Not only do we have a fantastic Steering Committee, we also have some incredible Graduate Research Assistants working on The Confirmation Project. They will be visiting congregations to conduct qualitative research. All of them are committed to working with congregations to make disciples of all nations. Peter Bauck is a Ph.D. student at Luther Seminary where his research focuses on pastoral theology and theological ethics. His passions in ministry and research revolve around empathy and ethics of care. He is ordained in the ELCA, has worked as a hospital chaplain for six years, and currently serves as a chaplain at a trauma hospital. He was also recently married to his lovely wife, Kristin, who teaches middle school language arts. Learn more about his work here.
Sylvia Bull is a dual degree student at Princeton Theological Seminary working on a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of the Arts in Christian Education. Sylvia is pursuing ordination in the ELCA and enjoys working at libraries for children.
Shonda Nicole Gladden is a mother who is passionate about young people, art, and the Church. She is the Senior Pastor of Allen Temple AME Church in Marion, Indiana, an interdisciplinary scholar practitioner and a current Wabash Pastoral Leadership Fellow. You can learn more about Rev. Jacob Sorenson is our confirmation camp specialist. Jacob has worked in camping ministry and is currently focusing his doctoral research on the role that camps play in the faith formation of young people. Jacob has taught confirmation in multiple Christian education settings. In addition to being a husband and father of two young boys he runs marathons. Kate Obermueller Unruh serves as The United Methodist Church specialist on our team. “Kate-O” brings international perspective to our project from her work as a Christian educator at The American International Church in London. She is currently a doctoral student at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ, and serves as a volunteer with children and youth at Kingston United Methodist Church.
