We gathered at the end of February to comb through our findings and we are beginning to see some exciting trends emerge. The good news is that there are some strong, creative, traditional, innovative, and plenty of “non-conforming” confirmation ministries from which all of us can learn. The congregations in our study are facing many of the real challenges you may be facing – from competing with weekend soccer competitions to having one kid go through confirmation every few years to figuring out how to integrate youth into the church so that confirmation does not equal graduation.
You can read about these congregations in our Portrait Gallery. We also will be sharing our findings at a number of upcoming events:
The Inspire Conference
Hosted by YAYA, Youth and Young Adult Ministries
April 28-29th, 2017 in Vancouver, BC
The International Conference on Confirmation Work in Erfurt/Germany
May 2-5, 2017 at the University of Tubigen, Erfurt, Germany
Research Findings from The Confirmation Project
May 23, 2017 at Mercer Island Presbyterian Church in Seattle, Washington
I hope to see you at one of these events!
