Meet Terri

Dr. Terri Martinson Elton serves as Associate Professor of Children, Youth and Family Ministry at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN. Terri has an MA and PhD in Congregational Mission and Leadership from Luther Seminary and her dissertation studied missional leadership within ELCA congregations. Prior to her call to Luther Seminary, Terri served for three years as Associate to the Bishop in the Saint Paul Area Synod and sixteen years in various roles at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, MN. Terri’s passion for reimagining what it means to be church in the 21st century leads her in research and teach in the areas of: congregational leadership, leading change, missional ecclesiology and faith and mission practices for children, youth, young adults and their families. She is an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, participates in various church networks and scholarly guilds, and continues to be a small group leader of middle school youth in her home congregation.
